Euro-Invader Outstrip Wins BC Juvenile Turf

Outstrip wins 2013 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.

Outstrip runs down fellow euro-invader Giovanni Boldini in Friday's Grade I Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita Park.

Post time favorite Bobby's Kitten set legit early fractions with Giovanni Boldini always traveling smoothly along the rail.

Giovanni Boldini got first run but Outstrip tipped off the rail and flew home to get up late.

Godolphin's Outstrip was ridden by Mike Smith, who also won the BC Marathon aboard London Bridge.

Exceed and Excel colt Outstrip, trained by Charles Appleby, paid $14 to win.

This was my favorite race of the day. Though the quick pace helped Outstrip, it was amazing to watch as she overcame the traffic trouble to make up that much ground in the final furlong.
Very impressive turn of foot shown by Outstrip to win the BC Juvenile Turf. That was 2 very talented horses in Giovanni Boldini and Bobby's Kitten out on lead, with neither of them were coming back to the field and Outstrip blew by them like they were both idling. I'd say this win puts him squarely in the picture as one of Godolphin's representives for the G1 English 2000 Guineas at Newmarket come the first Saturday in May.
