Ike and Dawn Thrash’s Line of David worked five furlongs in 1:02 under Lupillo Alferez after the renovation break.
Working on his own, the Arkansas Derby (GI) winner posted fractions
of :12, :24.20, :36.60, :49.20 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:16.20.
He looked good. It was not particularly fast but I wanted something
that was nice and smooth,” trainer John Sadler said. “He will come back
and work again on Monday.”
The trainer announced that Line of David would have a new rider in
the Kentucky Derby. Rafael Bejarano will be aboard Sadler’s colt after
Jon Court had piloted him to win the Arkansas Derby.
Sadler, whose lone previous Kentucky Derby starter was Corby, who
finished sixth in 1993, has a second Derby candidate this year in the
Sid and Jenny Craig Trust’s Sidney’s Candy, winner of the Santa Anita
Derby (GI).
