Dyani Wins Churchill Feature

Stonecrest Farm’s Dyani got up in the final jump to edge Up in Lights by a nose to win the $61,905 allowance feature for fillies and mares on Sunday afternoon at Churchill Downs.

Trained by Eddie Kenneally and ridden by Julien Leparoux, Dyani was ninth at the head of stretch and launched her winning drive seven wide, nailing Up in Lights right at the wire.

Dyani covered the 1 3/8 miles on a firm Matt Winn Turf Course in 2:22.42. The victory was worth $36,768 and increased Dyani’s earnings to $121,902 with a record of 15-2-3-4.

Dyani, a 4-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Dynaformer, returned mutuels of $7.20, $4 and $3.40 as the second choice in the field of 12. Up in Lights, ridden by Michael Baze, returned $5.80 and $5.20 with Molly Molly Molly finishing 1 1/2 lengths back in third under Robby Albarado and paying $7 to show.

The final week of the 21-day Fall Meet kicks off Wednesday with a 10-race program beginning at 12:40 p.m. (ET). There’s a Pick 6 carryover of $3,436 on races 5-10.
