Diva Ash Steals Edgewood

Diva Ash, under a well judged ride by Kent Desormeaux, made all of the running in the grassy $100,000 Edgewood Stakes on the Kentucky Oaks undercard.

The Edwood field was reduced to eight following the defections of Gaya and Holidaysatthefarm. Diva Ash took full advantage of her inner draw and set easy fractions of :24.87, :50.92, and 1:15.60 over the good going. She opened up by three lengths in the lane and cruised home by a comfortable 1-1/2 lengths in 1:45.93.

Sassy's Dream rallied for the place and post time favorite Smart Sting just held the show over Bonita Star and Niji's Grand Girl. My Redbyrd, Subpoena, and My Phi Temper trailed.

Diva Ash, a 3-year-old daughter of Tapit, paid $9.00 to win for trainer Dale Romans. She is owned by Zayat Stables.
