Kentucky Derby 136 logo Trainer Todd Pletcher said this morning that Devil May Care will run in the Derby and is "unlikely" to be entered in the Oaks.  Rule will not run in the Derby and he said Interactif was "unlikely" for the Derby.

These changes could allow Jackson Bend and Backtalk to move into the 20-horse Derby starting gate.

What the Nation is saying about Derby updates - Devil May Care in, Rule out...

im trying to box 5 to 6 horses for exotics i thought i had my horses now im just stumped
With the late great Eight Belles getting off at 18-1, it will be interesting to see her odds. A factor for my exotics- for sure. I don't think she is a "Winning Colors"
Anyone know why Rule has been pulled from derby
  • Arrrgy · My guess. Same as Esky. Jarring, stinging churchill racing strip. It's been like cement all week. If your horse stays sound on it, they'll stay sound. · 762 days ago ·

With Eskendereya and Rule both out of the Derby picture now, I've pretty much lost interest in the whole 2010 Kentucky Derby. And I live in Kentucky. About an hour from Keenland, and about 90 minutes from Churchill Downs. Almost the same situation as 2009. All the better contenders falling by the wayside before the race ever get's here. I.E. in 2009, Quality Road, The Pamplemousse, I Want Revenge.
  • Arrrgy · Look at it this way. There's 10 horses that want to be 1-2. Throw them all out and recap the race. Could be really fun now. · 762 days ago ·

dipdipsett: I would say try to beat Devil May Care. She will probably take too much money on the female angle, Pletcher, etc. She was hardly a slam dunk in the Oaks and does not look like the second coming of Rachel.
so what do i do with devil may care i think shes over rated perfect trip in last race? i wonder where the super screener had this one
  • mshutty · We have Devil May Care as an in-the-money contender. Last was solid enough to qualify for a strong showing against a weak field of boys. We are updating the Super Screener to reflect all recent changes and upcoming post positions draw. Stay tuned... · 762 days ago ·

That FL Derby took a lot out of this horse. He ran his heart out. A rest up for the Preaknes makes sense
Rule has been training poorly in advance of the Derby. Connections say the Preakness is still possible.
ramon was gonna have rule sit off the pace anyway but who is ramon gonna irde now?
Interesting... Rule was definitely a pace contender. Back to the drawing board!
Wow... now things are starting to change. Rule was going to be a serious pace factor. With him coming out, that has to upgrade the chances of Sidney's Candy, Conveyance and Super Saver... even if just a little.
