The horse trailers were stacked up on freeway on

It was closing day for the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's annual
summer meeting ---- this one of the 37-day variety as opposed to

Palomar Handicap before 13,140 fans on-track.

horsemen and the employees."
Del Mar dropped Mondays from the racing menu this season, and
for it will show approximately a $1 million profit, Harper said.
All profits from Del Mar are put back into the fairgrounds per
state law.
