Richard Munk, managing partner of Funky Munky Stable
LLC, winning owner of Hold That Prospect (No. 5): “This is the
first stakes win for Funky Munky stable – I can’t tell you how excited I
am. I’m more excited for the partners who had the faith in me to join
Funky Munky stable and we were pleasantly rewarded. I’m kind of
speechless right now to win a stakes race with a horse that we claimed for
$30,000. I never expected this in my wildest dreams – never did I think
we’d win a stakes with a horse we claimed for $30,000. You’re just not
supposed to do that. What this horse has done and what Gary Gullo has
done with this horse – I couldn’t be happier.”
Gary Gullo, winning trainer of Hold That Prospect (No.
5): “When she broke so well, I was pretty confident. She had been training
very well going into the race and I thought it was a good spot for her. I don’t
know what will be next; we’ll sit down and figure something out.”
Jorge Chavez, winning jockey aboard Hold That Prospect
(No. 5): “She’s got plenty of speed. She’s quick from the gate and
just decided to go, so I kept going with her. She took the lead pretty
easily so that was great. It was an easy job for me today.”
