The Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale got off to a quick start Monday multiple horses selling for $1 million or more within the first 50 through the ring.

Coolmore Stud’s Aisling Duignan, the bloodstock director of the breeding operation’s American division at Ashford Stud, paid $4.2 million for the 7-year-old Christmas Kid, a Grade 1 stakes winner who is a daughter of Lemon Drop Kid and was owned by Evans, who died in January.

“She’s magnificent looking,” said Duignan, who added that the mare most likely will be mated next year to Galileo, Coolmore’s top stallion in Ireland.
