As many people have noted, when Turf historians look back at 2010 or horse racing at the dawn of the 21st century, the entity they will undoubtedly mention most is Zenyatta.

And she deserves all those accolades, of course, and probably more than any of us mere mortals could muster, but lost in the of praise being afforded the greatest female racehorse of my lifetime (and possibly ever) is an appreciation for what Claiborne Farm accomplished not only this year but also as a family-run operation for going on more than a century.

In any other year (or against any other opponent), Blame's 2010 season would have been viewed as a stirring crescendo for Claiborne with the Breeders' Cup Classic its apocalyptic coda—think Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" with the cannons firing at dusk as Blame held sway over a champion opponent with millions watching mouths agape.

business is all about profit and that is what these guys are in the game for.....Claiborne has not had a big stallion in a very long time and this one could POTENTIALLY be the one....From a business point of view, how can one BLAME them?
