Churchill Jockeys to Visit Children's Hospital

Many of the top stars in the colony of jockeys competing during the Spring Meet at Churchill Downs will be joined by Hall of Famer and Kentucky Derby-winning jockey Pat Day, the track’s all-time leading rider, when nearly 20 riding stars gather Friday, June 20 for the annual visit by jockeys to Louisville’s Kosair Children’s Hospital
Spring Meet win leader Corey Lanerie, three-time Kentucky Derby winner Calvin Borel, two-time Kentucky Oaks winner Rosie Napravnik, and former Churchill Downs’ riding leaders Julien Leparoux, Robby Albarado and Shaun Bridgmohan are among the jockeys who are scheduled to visit with young Kosair Children’s Hospital patients and their families.
The riding stars will assemble at Churchill Downs and board a shuttle at approximately 1:30 p.m. (all times EDT) bound for the hospital, which is located at 231 E. Chestnut Street. The shuttle is expected to arrive at the hospital at approximately 2:15-2:30 p.m. The jockeys, all of whom will be wearing racing silks, will gather in the first floor reception area of Kosair Children’s Hospital before they break up into teams led by hospital staff and volunteers to visit and share gifts with patients and their families on several floors of the hospital.
Other jockeys scheduled to meet young Kosair Children’s Hospital patients include Brian Hernandez Jr., Joe Rocco Jr., Jesus Castanon, Miguel Mena, Joe Johnson, Ricardo Santana Jr., Marcelino Pedroza, Dylan Davis, Chris Landeros and Cory Orm
Media coverage of the annual visit by the jockeys to Kosair Children’s Hospital is welcomed. All interested media should enter the hospital through its main entrance on E. Chestnut to meet with the riders. Churchill Downs officials and representatives and Kosair Children’s Hospital staff and volunteers and media crews can, if they wish, join groups of riders on their tours.
