'Chieftain Takes Cal Cup Classic; Grazen Hurt

Bold Chieftain became the first two-time winner of the 20-year-old California Cup Classic and went over $1 million in career earnings in a bittersweet victory at Oak Tree's Santa Anita meeting Oct. 3. Blackbriar, also in the same race, was euthanized after fracturing his right front sesamoid near the end of the race.
Sorry to hear about Grazen's injury in the Cal Cup Classic. At least it sounds as though his injuries are not life threatening, but his racing career is probably over.
