Calvin Borel Breaks Jaw

Jockey Calvin Borel has a broken jaw and will miss the remainder of the Churchill Downs meet, his agent Jerry Hissam said Nov. 21. Borel, 44, was thrown from his mount in the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot (gr. III) Nov. 20 when the colt, Aces N Kings, failed to negotiate the final turn and bolted.

'“His jaw is broken, and he’ll be out the rest of the meet; hopefully we’ll start back in Arkansas (at Oaklawn Park),” Hissam said. “The trailing horse (Blue Laser) that Shaun (Bridgmohan) was on kicked him.”

Borel returned to Louisville a little after 10 p.m. and was scheduled for surgery on the morning of Nov. 21 to repair a clean break on the right side of his jaw and multiple fractures on the left. The jockey's wife, Lisa Borel, said doctors would insert pins and screws to help the injury heal.

I hate this dude. More importantly, I hate how people think he is a world class jockey. The guy can win on the KY circuit, other then that I would never put him on a horse. he is a scrub.
You folks are insane. Although putting Rachel in that Personal Ensign speed duel didn't make too much sense.
If they followed european rules he would have been sat down for a year for the brutal whipping he gave RA in the Woodward.what's that saying? what goes around comes around comes around.
he is a crack addict lol,,, i blame him for ruinin RA ,, by racing life at ten to furiosly in the personal ensign race,, where persintantly caught up to the two spent horses,,, maybe he should pay a visit to his brain dr.
Personally, given Borel's behavior. Showing his ASS to the entire world going out over worldwide T.V., I think it's too bad Javier Casellano didn't break his jaw for him at the end of the Breeders Cup Marathon. Borel was totally out of line handling that situation the way he did. Granted, Castellano's ride on his mount in the Marathon was poor to say the very least. But I don't for one second believe that Castellano meant any harm, or malicious intent to anyone in that race. Martin Garcia, by far, got the worst end of the incident. Much worse than Borel did. Garcia was almost completely unseated off of his horse. But to his credit, Garcia just walked away back to the jockey's room. Understanding that jockey's are human, and sometime's make mistakes in races. Calvin Borel acted like a thug, and looked almost like a crack addict with his temperamental explosion. Castellano's horse was D.Q.'d, and the stewards were right on top of the situation. Borel's actions were totally uncalled for, and unnecessary, IMO. Any and all respect I ever had for Calvin Borel went right out the window at the end of the Breeders Cup Marathon. TJMO.
Borel was not thrown from the horse. His sorry ass jumped off the damn horse. The man is gun shy. To bad for this nice horse.
fitting that it occured naturally before a rival fist did it that way...
he was thrown and boucened around while trying to get back up from what I saw. but my video was not to clear .
I like to know what he was thinking. It looked like he just bailed off the horse with no reason. At least thats what I saw when I watched the repay.
