California Chrome is the new Horse of the Year favorite

Kentucky Derby winner and Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome is the new favorite at 3-1 in Eclipse Awards 2014 Horse of the Year future bet odds listed by William HillTwo-time defending Horse of the Year Wise Dan, who remained unbeaten in 2014 with a win in the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic on Derby Day, is now the second choice, although the odds being offered remain unchanged from last month’s opening price of 4-1.

Other favorites (with odds) include three-time Santa Anita Handicap winner Game On Dude (6-1), last year’s Champion 3-Year-Old Will Take Charge (6-1), defending Breeders’ Cup Classic hero Mucho Macho Man (7-1), and Saturday’s easy Westchester Stakes winner Palace Malice (8-1).

Dominant Kentucky Oaks winner Untapable is the shortest-priced filly or mare on the list at 14-1.

real quiet was also 4 inches from a Triple Corwn winner too

If chrome wins Saturday, he gots the 3 year old championship in the bag, history shows, whoever wins 2/3 of the triple crown are winning the 3 year old title, take Real Quiet, he only won twice in 1998, the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, and he ended up winning the 3 year old title, so if Chrome wins, he's the champ in 2014
If Chrome is to win HOTY, he'd either have to win the Triple Crown or win the BC Classic. Neither are likely. Certainly much less likely than 3-1. But I'd gladly take any odds, however small, on his winning 3 YO colt of the year.
I admit I've made a few fazools on those sucker bets, or crapshoots, as we call them in this neck of the woods.
they have another name too:sucker bets
How about the first week of May vic? As of 5/6 Jameis Winston the quarterback(part-time shoplifter) of Florida State is the favorite. They are called futures bets for a reason.
talking about a horse of the year NOW is akin to picking out the Heisman Trophy winner the first week of OCtober
