28 November 2009: Buddy's Saint and jockey Jose Lezcano win The Remsen at Aqueduct Racetrack in Ozone Park NY. Buddy's Saint, winner of the Remsen (gr. II) and Nashua (gr. II) stakes, is off the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) trail after suffering a chip in his right front ankle following a workout at Gulfstream Park March 14, trainer Bruce Levine told The Blood-Horse.

“He really didn’t work that well this morning, and when he came back he started walking a little bit off and it got progressively worse,” trainer Bruce Levine said. “We X-rayed him and found the chip in his ankle.

This bites. I was hoping he would rebound in one of the final preps and make the Derby. Maybe Saratoga is in his stars. I think Sidney's Candy becomes my rooting interest now (I was a huge Candy Ride fan).
