Bridgetown 9-2 in Wide Open BC Turf Sprint

Breeders' Cup 2012 logo.

Bridgetown, riding a 2-race turf sprint winning streak, is the slight 9-2 morning line favorite in Saturday's Grade I Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint at Santa Anita Park.

Todd Pletcher's 5-year-old horse is 9-for-19 overall in turf sprints but has done all of his damage in shorter events and must prove that he can handle the tricky hillside course.

Unbridled's Note won the local prep for this from post twelve and he draws an outer post once again. The lightly raced 3-year-old colt is on the improve for Steve Asmussen.

8-year-old gelding California Flag drew the rail and will probably attempt to go gate-to-wire under Santa Anita's leading rider Joe Talamo.

Corporate Jungle ran into the likes of Wise Dan in his last two flat mile starts. Route runners turning back have had success over the downhill course and it is rarely a good idea to discount the chances of sharp trainer Chad Brown.

The overflow Turf Sprint field is completed by Camp Victory, Great Mills, Tale of a Champion, Next Question, Upgrade, Reneesgotzip, Great Attack, Mizdirection, Chosen Miracle, Starspangled Banner, and also-eligibles Global Power and Starspangled Heat.
