Shortly after 9 a.m. Nov. 12 on a sun-filled Kentucky morning, Blame returned home to his birthplace at Claiborne Farm near Paris to start his second career as a stallion.
Riding with the Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) winner on the trailer
trip from Keeneland was his co-owner and co-breeder, Adele
Dilschneider. Al Stall Jr., the colt’s trainer, flew up from Fair
Grounds in New Orleans to be on hand as Blame walked a short way up a
path to his new home. While two-dozen farm employees looked on, Blame
was led into the first stall in the stallion barn closest to
Claiborne’s main office. His name was already on the shiny nameplate
next to the stall door.
