Biofuel, last year's Canadian Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old filly, has been retired from racing because of a chipped sesamoid. The injury occurred in the Ontario Matron Stakes at 1 1/16 miles at
Woodbine July 24 in Biofuel’s second start of the year. She finished
third in the race.

Brereton C. Jones, Biofuel’s breeder/owner and owner of Airdrie Stud
near Midway, Ky. “It wasn’t the way she always finishes up. In an hour
or two she was lame. It’s not a life threatening injury."
