Belmont Pick 6 Carryover Reaches $539k

Belmont Park

An upset by Smokey Brown ($50.50) in Wednesday's final race triggered a massive, three-day Pick 6 carryover of $539,765 into Thursday's card at Belmont Park.

The first leg of Thurday's Pick 6 is race 5, the $100,000 Spite the Devil overnight stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds and up. The 2-1 morning-line favorite for the Spite the Devil is Readtheprospectus, a winner of six straight.

All six races in the sequence have a least eight betting interests in the body of the field (before scratches), and four races have nine or more betting interests. The final five races are scheduled to be contested on the turf.

Those who wish to play the Pick 6 or Pick 5 can place their bets at Belmont or Aqueduct Racetrack, or through NYRA Rewards, which offers Internet, On-Track, Phone, and Mobile wagering.
