Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks winner Believe You Can had her
first breeze at Saratoga this morning over the Oklahoma training
track in preparation for the Grade 1 Alabama on August 18. With jockey
Rosie Napravnik on board, the Proud Citizen filly went out shortly after
the first renovation break and worked five furlongs in 1:02.10, the
fifth-fastest of 13 at the distance.
“Everything was good; she’s done everything real
good,” said trainer Larry Jones, who was on hand for the move. “The
Alabama has been our goal; now we just have to get it all to come
together.”
Bred and owned by Brereton C. Jones, Believe You Can has
won six of her 10 starts, including the Grade 3 Tempted at Belmont Park
last year and the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks this year prior to the
Kentucky Oaks. In her most recent start, she was third behind Zo
Impressive in the Grade 1 Mother Goose at Belmont.
