Bob Baffert, talking from California on Monday, hopes he’s the bad
guy on Nov. 6 at Churchill Downs. The Hall of Fame trainer hopes he
has the horse to bring down the mighty Zenyatta in the Classic.
Actually, Baffert could have two in there. The more formidable one
would be Lookin At Lucky, who has won the Preakness, Haskell and
Indiana Derby in his last three starts and is, without question, the
top 3-year-old colt in the land.
The other Baffert horse is a 5-year-old named Richard’s Kid, who has
won his last two starts — the Pacific Classic (for the second straight
year) and Goodwood — on the synthetic tracks out west.
“They better take him serious,” Baffert said about Richard’s Kid. “He is getting better.”
