Baffert Chooses SA Derby for Jaycito

Premier Pegasus, Jaycito, and Bench Points had strong works April 3 in preparation for the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) next weekend.

Premier Pegasus, impressive winner of the San Felipe Stakes (gr. II) worked a bullet five furlongs in :59 1/5, the fastest of 17 works at the distance.

"He looked great and did exactly what we wanted," said Raxon Cho, son of owner/trainer Myung Kwon Cho. "We told (Alonso) Quinonez just do a nice and easy work, and that's what he did. Quinonez never moved his hands. We really liked the work."

Premier Pegasus, a son of Fusaichi Pegasus, has won four of five lifetime starts and earned $293,400.
