Awesome Act training for the Breeders' Cup Turf Mrs. Susan Roy and Vinery Stables’ Awesome Act worked six furlongs in company in 1:12.60 with jockey Julien Leparoux up after the morning renovation break at Churchill Downs.Working in company with Peace Town, Awesome Act produced fractions of :12.60, :25, :36.80, :48.60, 1:02 and out seven furlongs in 1:26.80.

He went very well for his first work over the track and I was very happy with it,” Leparoux said. “They wanted to go in around 1:12, which he did. He handled the track well.”

Awesome Act broke off a couple of lengths behind Peace Town and tracked him to the stretch where he surged past at the eighth pole. Peace Town was timed in 1:13.80 for the distance.

Trainer Jeremy Noseda, still unable to get a flight out of England because of the volcanic ash spewing from Iceland, got an immediate update on the work from assistant Wayne Tanner.“I told him I was happy with the breeze and he’s happy if I’m happy,” Tanner said. “He will probably come back and work three-eighths or a half-mile next Tuesday or Wednesday; just something to let him open up his lungs a little bit.”

What the Nation is saying about Awesome Act Works Six Furlongs...

Big Brown had all his conditioning right our of a Winstrol bottle, What a pig that could NOT run inside other horses as we saw by picking post 20 in the Derby, his trying to get out on the turn in Baltimore and his meltdown in the Belmont. WHAT A SLUG.
Watching his Gotham, this is a nice horse. I haven't seen the PPs yet but who else ran a mile in sub 1:36? That used to be my main criteria. Now days, horses respiratory systems have dulled the breed so much that this horse stands out with the top 4. I could be wrong but I don't think so. ;)
Big Brown as well? Foundation is key
Monarchos-I believe, BUT in 135 runnings you can count them on one hand. Bad news for Awesome & Lucky.
Does anyone remember when the last "two starter" won the Derby??
You can eliminate horses like EIGHTYFIVEINAFIFTY with it. LOL I bet a Lucas favorite to run last, years ago, because he had a DI of 9. I won that pool. ;)
Earlier The dosage index made more sense. NOW is it overloaded with speed types since graded stamina contests on dirt are as dead as a doornail.....Who can predict prepotency when the stage is no longer around?
This is the long shot to bet. Lost a shoe in last. Throw it out. DP 15 - 3 - 14 - 0 - 0 DI 3.57 Good CD 1.03 A hair high.
