As an Illinois horseplayer, are you fed up with the state law banning ADW wagering in Illinois? It is time to do something about it ... Bob Dwyer, an Illinois resident that serves on the Horseplayers Association of North America (HANA) board and is actively working on behalf of Illinois horseplayers on this issue, is spearheading a letter writing campaign to bring back ADW wagering to Illinois. He prepared a form letter that any Illinois resident that wants to be heard can sign and send. Attached is that draft letter. All one has to do is print, sign and send (unfortunately emails aren't accepted.) Let's make our voices heard!
Senator Pamela J. Althoff
M103C Capitol Building
Springfield, IL 62706
Dear Senator Althoff,
I am a horseplayer who lives in your district in Illinois and on December 31, 2012 legislation which provided the rules and regulations by which fans could wager via Advance Deposit Wagering accounts (“ADWs”) expired, consistent with the sunset provisions originally written onto the law.
The use of the ADW option has grown each year since its introduction including an 11.5% increase in 2012 while, on a combined basis all other forms of handle (betting) decreased by 4.75% in 2012. Though the use of my ADW account I have been able to continue to be a fan of and support the overall horseracing industry in Illinois.
Along with your fellow Senators and your colleagues in the House I urge you to support all the horseplayers in Illinois by passing the necessary legislation to reestablish ADWs.
Sincerely,
*Fans are also encouraged to contact their local representatives. For more information on the representative to contact, and this initiative, please visit HANA's info sheet here
