Ascanio deserves his chance

A few random thoughts while waiting for the Horse of the Year announcement, opening day at Gulftsream and the end of the December doldrums:

With Mast Track's victory in Saturday's Native Diver Handicap at Hollywood Park, longtime Bobby Frankel assistant Humberto Ascanio won his third graded-stakes race in 15 days. Since Frankel's passing, he is 4 for 9 as the official trainer of the stable and has kept the barn humming right along during what no doubt have been difficult times. Read More
