A Grade 1 stakes for Arabian horses is being staged early on the
Preakness card Saturday at Pimlico Race Course. It will be offered as a
special wagering event between the third and fourth races and will not
be part of any multi-race wagers.
Track spokesman Mike Gathagan
said fans will be required to ask for the race as a special event, since
it will not be numbered along with the other 13 races on the Saturday
card. The Grade 1, $75,000 President of the United Arab Emirates Cup,
which goes at 1 1/16 miles on the main track, is part of an
international series sponsored by Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE.
