Aqueduct: Matt & Mike's Late Pick 4 Analysis

This Saturday at The Big A has the makings of a spectacular afternoon. We have some awesome graded stakes action, and for me personally, it will mark a couple of firsts. It will be my inaugural trip to Aqueduct and also my first time on scene as a member of the HRN team. I am thrilled about both and I cannot wait for the action. And as you already know, if we are talking about racing in New York, you have to include Matt Shifman in the discussion. He is being nice enough to show me the ropes on Saturday and so we decided we would take a look at the late Pick 4 together. Two sets of eyes are always better than one. Here's our take.

The Comely

Matt and I saw this one pretty much the same. He is going to use Wedding Toast, Galloping Giraffe, and Sky Girl. I will use those 3 as well as adding in Flash Forward. It appears our thinking was along the same lines here. Either Wedding Toast smokes the field or this is falling apart late and a closer will be coming to pick up the pieces.

The Cigar Mile

What an awesome race. I went short here and Matt went deep. I will be using Clearly Now and Groupie Doll. Matt will go 5 deep with Forty Tales, Groupie Doll, Laugh Track, Flat Out, and Verrazano. This is such a talented field anything could happen. When I saw his selections it made me want to add a few more to mine. I will stick to my guns though and hope we both survive this leg.

The Remsen

We were pretty aligned on this one. It looks like we both think the top 2 are going to be tough, but just in case we both\ added 1 more. He is going 3 deep with Noble Moon, Honor Code, and Cairo Prince. I will also go 3 deep with Master Lightning, Honor Code, and Cairo Prince. Noble Moon is one that I was really torn on, I hope I don't regret leaving him off my ticket.

Race 10

The night cap was absolute torture to handicap. We both saw this exactly the same and decided on using Luxury Appeal, Herbert Hall, and Winning Touch. Luxury Appeal gets off the rail for this and ran a pretty nice race last out while fighting from the inside. As for the other two, the form is kind of sketchy, but they are in the care of David Jacobson who knows how to turn a horse around.

The Play:

Matt: 2-6-8 with 2-4-5-9-10 with 1-4-9 with 5-6-11. Wager will cost $67.50 for fifty cents.

Mike: 1-2-6-8 with 3-4 with 2-4-9 with 5-6-11. Wager will cost $36 for fifty cents.

Combined: 1-2-6-8 with 2-3-4-5-9-10 with 1-2-4-9 with 5-6-11. Wager will cost $144 for fifty cents.

As always, best of luck and have a winning day. Good vibes being sent your way.

It super chalked out. We hit, but lost money. Even with Flat Out winning the cigar mile, but favorites from Pletcher/Repole and Jacobson will sure drive down the price.
6 deep in the Cigar Mile & no Goldencents...that is a super deep field.
Good luck, fellas ... wish I was right there with you!
