Animal Kingdom, Dialed In Early Preakness Favorites

Early wagering began on Friday for the 2011 Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course and Dialed In is the 3-1 co-favorite with Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom.

Dialed In, the beaten Derby favorite, got no pace help in that race and is hoping that Flashpoint and Shackleford go after each other in the early going on Saturday. The Nick Zito charge will win Frank Stronach's $5.5 million bonus if he captures the Preakness Stakes.

Derby show finisher Mucho Macho Man is the third betting choice at 6-1. Midnight Interlude, a disappointing 16th on the first Saturday in May, is next at 9-1 followed by Dance City for trainer Todd Pletcher.

The biggest overlay at this point would seem to be Mr. Commons for John Shirreffs. The Santa Anita Derby show finisher is getting no respect at 45-1.
