Dr. Hansen where did you confirm that Secret Circle will skip the Derby? I know you have SERIOUS connections and info..if that is true I can make a few bucks...
My pick before the breeders cup was Union Rags ,And still love him in the Derby
12-1 would be a fat price on Take Charge Indy.
Don't make Bodemeister a false favorite...he got a 25 and change breather in the middle of his win at Oaklawn as there was no real competition. Not gonna get away with this in Derby.
Oh and if I get 7 to 1 or better in the Derby as in the Breeders Cup.....I plan to take half the pick 4 pool again))
as for the west coast horses, Bodemeister looked like a monster in his win, so what does the win of I'll have another over Creative Cause who beat Bodemeister say, does it move him up or did the lightly run Bodemeister improve by leaps and bounds, hmmm, I think I'll have another has a huge chance off the win

jockey wrong on Hansen....likely Ramon, Secret Circle is not running in Derby....so back up for Hansen is John V or Raphael Bejarano
at least half the field has a great chance at winning. Some really powerful horses. Am thinking Bodemeister could be a tripple crown horse.
this has to be the best field in many years.
I mean *this year
What a great field there is today!
Tony, "Derby Closers usually get minor rewards." You mean derby dlosers like Animal Kindgom, Street Sense, Mind That Bird and Giacomo? C'mon pal, do some more homework. Dullahan will make you pay. And by pay, I mean Pay me.
  • tony bada bing · SS was special, G & AN lousy fields...stand by most closers pick up minor awards...Good luck with Dullahan · 1317 days ago
  • horshumagu · I agree with Tony. More often than not the 'brilliant' closers run into traffic, and effort is too little, too late. Yes, they win sometimes, but often it is b/c of a pace breakdown, or subpar crop. I prefer to put them in the 2,3,4 slot which is where I'll put Dullahan. · 1317 days ago
I can guarantee this...there's no way 8 horses will be bet heavier than Take Charge Indy. I'm not even a fan of the horse, but off the Fla Derby win and the simple fact its Calvin Borel, the horse will get bet a lot lower than he should be. The horse will be no worse than the 5th shot on the board when the gates open. Novice players who know nothing about the derby bet him just because hes won 3 of the most recent. Put him on an animal that actually has some form too, and he's no higher than 9-1 in my opinion. I mean, Twice the Appeal had ZERO chance in the derby last year and was 20-1 ML, and went off at 11-1. Battaglia even said the horse would have been 30-1 if any other jock was on him.
6-1 on the favorite, this is why the Derby is such a great betting race. I think all the horses up to Alpha at 15-1 have a chance. The hard part is picking the right one, but if you do it will pay.
Nice job on the odds, I wonder if Battaglia visits your post for help? I do think Battaglia will toss in a few 50 to ones in the mix.
For those of you that say Bodemeister has not raced enough...go back in time to Grindstone. He had 5 races before the Kentucky Derby and he won handily under Jerry Bailey. Nothing is impossible.
  • arazi · Can we really call Grindstone winning handily? · 1318 days ago
  • tony bada bing · Anything is possible, but Grindstone by a nose coming from off the pace. Baffert has already said Bodemeister will not rate in Derby - good luck gunning for the lead with headstrong Hansen · 1318 days ago
Of the 20 listed above ,I think these 5 can get a 1 1/4 and have a chance to win: 1) Union Rags,2) I'll Have Another,3)Creative Cause,4) Dullahan, and 5 ) Bodemeister.I'll be using these on top in my Exotics on top..
A lot of money is going to go to Bedmeister that's for sure, but having never raced as a two-year old Bode-Man is not very likely to hit the wire first

  • DeePotter · Strangely, Grindstone had 5 races before the Kentucky Derby, and he won easily. · 1318 days ago
Awesome, Brian. I think this is spot on - although I might make the bottom four 50-1...
