Alpha Continues JCGC Preparations

Grade 1 Woodward winner Alpha completed his preparations for the Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup this morning, breezing five furlongs in 1:02.90 over the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga Race Course.

 

"He worked on his own, and will ship down Wednesday morning," reported trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. "All is well, other than we don't have a jockey yet."

 

The Woodward was Alpha's second Grade 1 triumph, having dead-heated to win last year's Travers.

 

"The Woodward was a huge win for the horse, the trainer, the owner [Godolphin Stable] and everyone," said McLaughlin.
