All Star Heart targets Matriarch

All Star Heart, winner of the Grade 2 Las Palmas Handicap at Santa Anita last Sunday, is likely to make her Grade 1 debut in the $250,000 Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park on Nov. 25, trainer Ron McAnally said earlier this week.


Owned by breeder Gerald Gibbs, All Star Heart, 4, won the Grade 2 Las Palmas Stakes over a mile on turf by two lengths over City to City, closing from last in a field of five in the final quarter-mile. The Matriarch Stakes is run over a mile on turf.


“She ran big,” McAnally said. “She’s done everything right. My job is to keep her fit and sound.”
