As the 2009 Saratoga meet neared its climax there was one question on everyone’s mind: When is Rachel running here?  The Alabama was considered a possibility but once it became clear that she was not headed here a new lady was the biggest story.

What the Nation is saying about #6 – The Alabama...

I love Careless Jewel. I lost money on her in the Ladies Classic. I even went across the board on her, because I thought "no way she finishes out of the money." But what I found out watching her in that race is that she has what I call the "Pressious Passion Syndrome." Just like P.P., if the right Careless Jewel show's up, she'll take it wire to wire. If the wrong one show's up, forget it. Also, IMO, I'll still take Zenyatta to beat Rachel or Careless Jewel on any surface at any distance.
It would have been great to see Rachel, Jewel and Zenyatta at their peak in September...
If Rachel were in that race, 'Jewel would have given her a scare I think. She was razor sharp.
That was a pretty cool race watching Careless Jewel dominate the field. Certainly created a buzz at Saratoga that day.
