2013 Kentucky Derby Morning Line

If you are like me, and the anticipation of waiting the final nine days until they enter the starting gate for the 139th Run for the Roses is almost  too much to bear, then you can appreciate my jumping the gun a bit with preparing an early morning line. Sure, there could be a change or two with the horses rounding out the field, and yes, the post-position draw should come into play in your handicapping, if not the actual final odds, but I've waited long enough... Please enjoy Horse Racing Nation's 2013 Kentucky Derby Morning Line.

I'm sorry, Puddles, I used to play horseracegame and I believe I met you there. It's all coming back to me. lol! Welcome to HRN (yesterday)
Puddles, it is nice to see you online. I vaguely remember your username, named after your first pony, am I right?
Love thess odds.
I'd say that ML is about right. The people will bet down hard on Revolutionary with Borel up, he'll likely go off as post time favorite or no less than second choice. I can't see Rev going off as anything less than second choice at post. Verrazano is biggest ML fav.TOSS in recent memory. I would be totally blindsided if he finished 6th or better.
Do the math, Derek.
  • DerekFisher · I did the math, I just felt Verrazano, Revolutionary, and Java's War ML will be slightly lower than Zipse predictions thats all. Still a good ML. · 1156 days ago
A very fair morning line... I'm not sure any horse will be less than 3-1 at betting time... I really think Orb should be the favorite though but I agree Verrazano will be...
These odds seem much too generous in my opinion..Verrazano will be much closer to 5/2 or 3-1, and Revolutionary will be around 5-1, all the others are ok, except Java's War will probably be bet down to around 8-1. Just my 2 cents.
How much will Borel lower the odds on Revolutionary?
I'll take those odds on Orb, Java's War, Black Onyx, and Falling Sky. I am intrigued to see at what odds Verrazano goes to post. You have to think that his undefeated record will attract a lot of attention.
real morning lines, particualarly on the first Saturday in May are usually written at 125 booking points or higher are they not? http://www.aqha.com/Racing/Content-Pages/Racing-and-Wagering/Q-Racing-Aces-and-Handicapping-Information/The-Morning-Line.aspx
Unceratainty over path, of Il Derby winner, "deaprting" who has points, adds to intrigue, as does Sat. Ky. Derby Trial, a graded event, with points, and a one turn mile......TPD
Nice early line - Zipse...I wonder about Java's War catching some steam because his Blue Grass win was so dramatic.
A lot of people are talking about Verrazano going off at 5-1 like you have here, but I find that a little hard to believe that an undefeated runner is going to go off so low.
