[VIDEO] Dullahan Prepares for the 2012 Pacific Classic

Written by: Kevin Kerstein

In just a few days Dullahan will ship out to the west coast in preparation for the 2012 Pacific Classic at Del Mar. HRN caught up with him this morning galloping at Churchill Downs before he leaves for California.

After the gallop Tammy Fox said, "We hope this is finally the surface he will like." Proven to already like the poly track, Dullahan should take well to the surface at Del Mar. After a fast closing bid in the Kentucky Derby, a failed attempt at the Belmont Stakes and a sub-par effort in the Haskell, trainer Dale Romans looks to try a different path with Dullahan.

The $1 million Pacific Classic will take place Sunday, August 26th at the Del Mar. An estimated 10 horses will take place in this years event including Game On Dude and Richard's Kid.

I can't see him winning
I see him finishing mid-pack. This looks like a desperate attempt at an Eclipse Award. Now that Acclamation is out of the mix, it's looking more and more like another 1-2 finish for Baffert, Richard's Kid over Game On Dude. Dullahan may have a liking for polytrack, but he'll be heavily outclassed in this spot.
I honestly think he'll pull it off, If he has a good trip and gets running room.
With the likes of Game On Dude and Richards Kid in the race Dullahan might get 3rd at best
I hope he finally gets to win this one. He was actually the 2nd of two favorites I had when I first got into racing back in early February (the 1st being Gemologist).
