$195k Pick 6 Carryover at Belmont Park

In addition to live music and a beverage koozie giveaway, Friday’s “Party at the Park” twilight racing card at Belmont Park will include a two-day Pick 6 carryover of $194,905.

Belmont will offer a special first-race post time of 3 p.m. on Friday, and the Pick 6 will get underway 90 minutes later with race 4. All six races in the sequence attracted at least seven betting interests before scratches, with 10 or more horses entered in the second, third, fourth, and sixth legs.

The $85,000 Chasin’ Wimmin’ overnight stakes for New York-bred serves as Friday’s eighth race and as the fifth leg of the Pick 6. The Chasin’ Wimmin’ will mark the third straight meeting between stakes winners Uncle T Seven and Mine Over Matter. The race also attracted Fiddlers Afleet, who will be making his first start for trainer David Jacobson after having made a pair of starts for John Sadler.

The second leg of the Pick 6 is a maiden special weight on turf for 2-year-olds. Freshman sires Big Brown, Divine Park, and Raven’s Pass will be represented in the six-furlong dash.

Those who wish to play the Pick 6 can place their bets at Belmont or Aqueduct, or through NYRA Rewards, which offers Internet, On-Track, Phone, and Mobile wagering.

The sights and sounds of the Emerald Isle will come to Belmont when The Mickey Finns and Niall O’Leary’s School of Irish Dance take the stage following the last race, which has a scheduled post time of 7:08 p.m. The Mickey Finns are one of New York’s greatest Celtic trios, having appeared with The Corrs, Black ’47, Shane MacGowan, Elvis Costello, and Van Morrison, among others. Niall O’Leary, a former All-Ireland and World Champion Irish dancer, will bring some of his most talented students to perform.

Fans can pick up a free Belmont Park beverage koozie on Friday while supplies last.
