  • goblin · ssinn, Musical Romance is in foal to Deep Impact; due 1/15/14. The info is about halfway down on the right side of this FB link. Thoroughbred Daily News does excellent coverage of breeding and sales and has reports by Michelle MacDonald and Frances Karon on the mares in Japan. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Musical-Romance-The-Breeders-Cup-2011-Fillies-Mares-Sprint-Champion/233930340013419?hc_location=timeline · 383 days ago

Zazu is being sold at Keeneland tomorrow, 11/6, Hip #0149. How sad. Such a lovely horse.

  • PhonyJJ · Zazu is going to Japan. I agree with you Mary, someone spending over $2 Mil for a horse will likely take care of it. I've seen picures of their broodmare bands and they seem to have a good life. · 629 days ago

God bless her!
She was my pick for the Ladies' Classic last year until the shoulder injury put her on the sidelines...But it's great to see her back with three straight solid works! Hopefully she'll make it to the BC this year; personally, I would just be thrilled to see her win the Lady's Secret (G1) again and give the Mosses 5 straight wins in that prestigious race!
On March 24, posted her first work of the year, a sharp 3 furlong move in 35:40 (2/14) at Santa Anita.

I hope she can make it back and have a big 2012
Zazu, winner of the Grade I Lady’s Secret Stakes last year, is due in Monday from Rancho Paseana Training Center in Rancho Santa Fe, John Sadler reported. “She had a little shoulder issue and it should be all resolved,” the trainer said.
HRN Question. Who is the biggest Eclipse Award finalist snub and Zazu is leading...LMFAO ...Snub of want...being a mediocre horse?

  • kedez2012 · There found some swelling in her shoulder after a work-out. That's why she was pulled from the BC, but I dont think she's retired. · 991 days ago
  • notobsessed · Why do you think she is retired? · 991 days ago
Hated to see this horse miss the BC this year. and now retired.. but glad she is getting a break
uhhhhh...would have loved to see u do damage is the BLC...its too bad your out...hope you can get well soon
She is out of the BC due to a shoulder inflammation.
Does her win today put her in the discussion for three year old filly honors (although Blind Luck wasn't herself)?? What do you think??
I absoloutly love Zazu. She always runs her hardest. Even though BL didn't run well, she still beat Ultra Blend and Ask the Moon, to good older mares. Her time was good and she looked good in the race. I hope she does well in Ladies Classic.
I love this filly, she always gives her best :) and that makes it 4 years straight for the moss's for the lady's secret? lol
josephe-blame the ride not the owners what was go go waiting for?I never thought Switch could beat Zazu...But jock was riding both Zazuand Switch when Ultra Blend got over..Nice hoss ..to try and run down..I Love Zazu ..per my past comments but 1 1/16 - 11/8 seem to be her best distances...do not think she could go with Inglorious at 11/4 .Think it was a good decision. not to mention Blind Luck and Grace waiting for any 3 year old too come up and try....yeah it was a good spot too run...peace
Is it just me that’s wondering this or does anyone find it odd that Zazu would have ran this weekend in the Clement L Hirsch at a compromising distance of 8.5f? Zazu was most likely the best horse in the Hirsch at 9 or possibly even the 10f distance of the Alabama, but mismanagement by the connections led them to shorten her up to 8.5 furlongs. For whatever reason, I don’t know why, but we’ve seen mistakes like this before. I am sure she will prep again on the synthetic in the Zenyatta Stakes and then come East and get beat by horses that are used to running on dirt. Its funny that these professionals and long time horse people put this horse in a race where she was compromised by running against older and on a quirky surface and at a distance that she does not like and certainly doesn’t favor her running style. She is 1 for 4 at the distance now thus showing further that she needs more ground, she is begging for more ground as can be seen when galloping out well past Ultra Blend. Maybe they felt it more important to back Cali racing and lose a $300k race when facing horses that are struggling to hold a 50% win clip, instead of coming east to run in a race that fits her better at 10f and $500k against true routers. Hmmm, we’ve seen this before.
So close Zazu :)
josephe-I say again Del Mar will be fun for Zazu...peace
