  • footlick · Firt it is meters, but it is the way the courses are also, many times there is uphill and downhill. many finishing stretches are uphill. Also the course conditions are different. Fast there tends to be good here. Good there is probably soft here. They run on deeper turf and many times stickier turf. That is why I said, send them over there and let them run against him, or run in any race. Compare the time they run there to the time here. If you say you understand that time doesn't mean that much there then why bring it up? Other than being fair in your comparisons, it doesn't matter. Just was the new feature on Throughbred Times called This is my Job, Adrian Rock, the regular exercise rider of Wise Dan & other horses in the Lopresti stable. The first feature of many about racing. Need so much more of this.

  • likin sparks · Yes, so far I think that is and if Johnny V. didn't have such a tight hold on him trying to reserve his speed in the beginning one could just imagine what his Beyer could have been. I realize this thought is probably a bit premature, but I think if he can live up to today's performance throughout the rest of the year, he's easily a candidate for HOY.
Something I have always found difficult to understand is a horse winning under a choke hold. Today not only did I witness a choke hold where a horse wanted to go and wasn't allowed to, but I also witnessed a hand ride. Now Wise Dan is not close to the likes of Man O' War, but I can tell you that the description of the Ben Ali and most of Man O' War's races would be VERY simillar. I hope it wasn't a fluke, and maybe we'll meet Acclamation later this year?
