What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Verrazano...

Had a work at The Curragh in Ireland. Is pointed to the Royal Ascot. A possible start in the Queen Anne according to @DRFAnderson per Aiden O'Brien

We've heard about it before in the past, but the question remains, how long will we continue to hear about it in the future? It almost ended two years ago. Then last year, many thought it definitely would come to a halt, but it didn't. Could 2014 finally be the year that it ceases to exist or will i...Read More
  • DANCERS1FAN · Since it is becoming so common not to race at two, I am sure we will eventually have another Derby winner who started his career at 3.....however I do NOT believe that horse will have a shot at the triple crown due to lack of foundation. In fact, I don't feel we will have another triple crown winner until the trainers stop coddling the horses and start racing them enough to get fit and working them long enough to develop the bottom needed for 3 races in 5 weeks..... · 30 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @Ruffianlover, the last I had heard was that Verrazano has some abitious entries in Europe this season, though having entries doesn't always mean they'll run in the respective race. I recently read he holds entires in both the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at 10f in Ireland in May and the G1 Prince of Wales's Stakes at 10f at Ascot in June. Whether or not we actually see Verrazano in either of those races still remains to be seen, though. · 43 days ago ·

  • rafirox · Love David Jacobson and Drawing Away Stable. They are classy folks, all about business and are quite respected around the game. Jacobson's placement in horses' (class) and his care are top notch. If he feels he should run a certain horse often, so be it. He knows more than you, I and everyone else on this thread combined, Laurie. · 101 days ago ·

  • tmallios1 · Laurie, thank you for bringing out the Pink Elephant into the fore front. It is a joke how some of these guys claim horses at bargain basement prices and raise them to heights of winning stakes races. Then they are hailed as heroes. Amino said it best,The feed program is so much better on the other side of the fence.Smokey was one of the unlucky ones. So many more are left to the outside. Not only herein NY,but at other tracks. An absolute joke when trainers are almost winning at 30% or over. Oh yeah,i definately believe they are sharper than others and know how to place their horses. Same nonsense with Blinkers on first time. That is the corporate line. The real line is that they finally did what was needed to be done. · 101 days ago ·

Still no official announcement on whether or not the connections have changed their minds regarding the future of Verrazano. I guess didn't quite end the year on the high note they were hoping for, it would be terrific if he stayed in training!
Todd Pletcher started 14 horses at Aqueduct on Saturday and won three races, including the Grade 2 Demoiselle with Stopchargingmaria. On Sunday, the trainer discussed plans for many of the horses in that group.Read More

I can't help but wonder how much his potential stud fee went down after this. And whether WTC's win yesterday pushed it down even farther.

  • Northport · Very intriguing mentioning sending him to O'Brien. While Ballydoyle is a pretty large operation it would be interesting seeing O'Brien's take on him, maybe seeing how he performs going a straight mile. But then again Coolmore already is standing 26 flat stallions in Ireland alone, and I guess they feel they don't need to try Verrazano on turf when he can still get 150+ mares in America with his current record. I have always been interested in Coolmore, but it does confuse me how they often keep their best colts in training as older horses in Ireland, while the 3 y/o colts they own all of (or shares of) are retired at the end of their sophomore season · 140 days ago ·
