MichaelHarris · Thank you Brian. I remember seeing Timely Writer as a two-year-old at Saratoga and marvelling at his acceleration. I was away at college the day he died, but I'll always remember the letter I received later that week from my brother, who had been at the race: he said that it felt like watching a friend die. Timely Writer was a wonderful horse and I think of him (and Ruffian) every time I see the Belmont infield. · 618 days ago ·

MaidenKing · As a teen-ager, began playing the races at Suffolk Downs in the early 1980's. Timely Writer was the horse that put our track on the map at the time and everybody at the East Boston oval was rooting for him whenever he ran and we were crushed when he died on the track.
