  • Sysonby · Well written piece. There is no question Tesio bred horses who established outstanding breeding lines. I still have to say that ignoring the fact that the mare contributes half the chromosomes to the horse is just a little bit crazy. · 510 days ago ·

2012 Prix De L'arc De Triomphe Winner Solemia will be bred to Dubawi in 2013
THIS year's surprise Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Solemia has been retired after finishing a lacklustre 13th of 17 in Sunday's Japan Cup.Read More

  • mkstorm · Still think Orfevre is the horse to beat in JC. Don't agree with the naysayers that this horse tired in the Arc. This horse has already proven that he can win at longer distances. I think his Arc loss was just a matter of the horse just letting up thinking the race was over. Can't really blame his French jockey who was urging him all the the way to the wire. Orfevre seems to be his own worst enemy. · 593 days ago ·
It was initially thought that the Arc winner would come to Santa Anita for a shot at either the BC Turf or BC F&M Turf. But today Solemia's connections announced that she would not be making the trip to Santa Anita for this year's Breeders Cup. Saying simply that they have other races in mind for Solemia. My guess is the G1 Japan Cup in November and/or the G1 Hong Kong Vase in December?
Either race, the BC Turf or Japan Cup, will be tough! The money bonus is HUGE if she finishes in the Japan Cup top three as the Arc winner. I'm guessing she will go to.....

  • travel_vic · Many European horses find the going too hard for them. Many's the great ones have come over the years and the combo of HEAT and HARD race tracks has done many a very good one in. · 638 days ago ·

  • karen.sweatman.9 · It's all about Groupie Doll and Wise Dan for me, they are the best of our thoroughbreds right now. Across the pond, I'm still in love with Danedream. The ARC, tough break for her and her conections. I think she would · 639 days ago ·
  • karen.sweatman.9 · As I was saying, Danedream would've taken the ARC in round 2, what a shame. Guess she's going to retire now? · 639 days ago ·
Carlos Laffon-Parias and Olivier Peslier came, saw and conquered in scintillating fashion as their four year old filly, Solemia, reeled in Orfevre in the dying strides of the Prix de L'Arc de TriompheRead More

  • footlick · pacemakers, horses who don't handle the going and outclassed horses don;t count. All the horses I mentioned were threats to win and ran well- on or near the rail. · 639 days ago ·
Will be a great addition. Look forward to seeing her.
That was quite impressive! Great comeback.
Great Mare. Big Heart !
  • iluvturfracing · I honestly won't know until I see the replay on YouTube later where Solemia was postioned and from what part of the track that Peslier came from with her? I was completely focused on Orfevre and for just a second marveling at the relative ease in which he blew by Camelot, Sea Moon, St Nicholas Abbey, Great Heavens, Saonois, Bayir, etc....when Soumillon called on him to go and win his race. I suspect I'll look back and find a beautiful ground saving, tactical ride on Solemia by Olivier Peslier, as he's always been a fantastic tactical rider. Kind of gives Peslier a little vindication for the disappointng effort by Galikova in last year's Arc after so many punters had lumped onto her. · 640 days ago ·
  • notobsessed · Solemia was on the rail in 2nd and 3rd place the last part of the race · 640 days ago ·
