Foal alert!. Filly by Shackleford out of Dixieland Bull by Holy Bull
http://www.flickr.com/photos/57840647@N04/12077755823/ newest Shackleford foal.
Shack's second foal was born on Jan 6th a bay colt out of the mare Mecanique. He was born at Dale Romans farm in KY.
Heres some good news! shack's first foal is a filly and she has a white blaze like her father! http://www.darbydan.com/articles/classic-winner-shackleford’s-first-foal-a-filly.html

  • Jay S. · It certainly is, notobsessed. The Shack was sure digging-in the last 1/8th. Never get tired of watching. · 655 days ago
Miss my Shack. The dirt mile just won't be the same without him!
Which mares he will cover?
How nice would it be to see Shack's big, white blaze working-out in the mornings for a run at the Fall Classics? I sure do miss seeing this Big Boy on the track. Leads me to this thought...if you could load the gate for one race, who would be the 10 horses you'd load. Here's mine: 1. Seattle Slew 2. Swale 3. Ack Ack 4. Kelso 5. Gate Dancer 6. Turkoman 7. Sunday Silence 8. Ferdinand 9. Citation 10. Spectacular Bid. Not Big Red or Man O' War cause I think they were just too tough, and I want it to be a 10 horse dead-heat..

I was looking through some of my old pictures and fou nd this one. http://i1367.photobucket.com/albums/r794/hungryforgrace/gg_zpsa3450b6b.jpg shack&Amazombie in the Churchill Downs Stakes. Not the best quality as my camera is a piece of crud, but it brings back fun memories.
There are 3 pix.. just click next at the top of the page.. He looks good!... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=472285672842225&set=a.472285659508893.1073741836.137498586320937&type=3&l=e80ff8e67a&permPage=1

I am truly going to miss this big boy out there on the racetrack. At the awards last night Dale talked about this horses and he saved Shack for last and not to mention he got very emotional. Going to miss his big white blaze! Can't wait to see his babies! :)
i think that shackleford could have gone long distance he just didn't like mud

  • rafirox · I agree with northport, saying he was "nearly unbeatable" was a bit much. He was a fantastic racehorse, for sure. He loved to run, and had a awesome personality. Beautiful horse, I'll miss his white blaze on the backstretch. He hated off tracks, really good on a fast track. · 1001 days ago
Shackleford was not always consistent but I still adored him anyway. Happy retirement my friend.
Upset and angered that he wasn't chosen as a finalist for the Vox Populi Award. Same with Paynter.
