Poor guy. Did not fire. Hope he's alright. Two straight no fire races. Unlike him. Something is up here (soundness, old age, whatever).

  • Mary Z. · ubd, claiming races only go to $100K. Does that sound right to you. I have this much time on my hands. Let's see how you spend yours. Fork; done. · 895 days ago
Sahara Sky is out of the Met Mile due to Stomach ulcers, will stay in California and target the Triple Bend at Santa Anita 6/28

  • Mary Z. · Was un-Sky-like last two races. Get well soon, Sky. · 941 days ago
  • Jbyrnes1 · Also, Shakin it Up is being pointed to the Met Mile, according to trainer Bob Baffert on DRF · 941 days ago
Like I said hes been running all over the map and all over the board this just wont be his year. Last year was his year and they backed off him for a run this year bad move

  • rafirox · Congrats, SM. I sure got killed on this race. I'm surprised Sahara Sky never fired. I did like Shakin it Up. Surprised about Central Banker, to be honest. · 952 days ago
  • Striped mentality · I though he'd been sitting on a big one for a while. His works have been progressive (not awe inspiring, but not regressive). It was a risk, but one I was willing to take. I think the next time out though SIU will get the nod for the win, he is a solid horse, CB is terribly inconsistant. · 952 days ago
Rooting for Sahara sky today. Should be enough speed on the front for him to pick them off late.
Rooting for Sahara Sky in the Carter
He's baaaaaack! Man, that was exciting.

  • LAZMANNICK · He won like a horse that's at the top of his division. Great ride and great patience. He was actually last turning into the stretch. · 1008 days ago
1:20 4/5 very nice.
dead last wow
Metropolitan Mile winner Sahara Sky, a candidate for the Grade II, $200,000 Palos Verdes Stakes on Feb. 2, went six furlongs in 1:12.80.
Of the 108 recorded workouts on Santa Anita’s main track Friday, 13 were by horses trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, including Sahara Sky, winner of a pair of Grade II sprint stakes at Santa Anita, the San Carlos and the Palos Verdes, and the Grade I Met Mile on May 27, his most recent start. Owned by Hollendorfer and Kim Lloyd, Sahara Sky went four furlongs in 48 seconds flat
Sprint champ contender, Met Mile winner, worked out today at Hollywood Park.

Hollendorfer rules out any possibility of Sahara Sky returning for BC, hopes to have him back at the track the beginning of December to target a 2014 campaign
Sahara Sky is enjoying some R&R at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds facility in Santa Ynez since his nose victory in the Grade I Met Mile on May 27. “They tried to sell him as a stallion,” said Dan Ward, assistant to trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who owns the 5-year-old Pleasant Tap horse along with Kim Lloyd. “If that doesn’t happen, he’ll come back in about a month and we’ll get him ready for Santa Anita’s winter meet.” The Florida-bred out of the Storm Cat mare Seeking the Sky won the Palos Verdes and the San Carlos, each a Grade II stake, earlier this year at Santa Anita before losing the Grade I Carter Handicap at Aqueduct by three-quarters of a length on April 6.
I think they are pointing to breeders cup with this horse and well deserved. Beating horses like comma to the top, flat out and justin phillip... I have made some good money and a pleasure to watch this horse run and come into his own.

Wow! flying home!
Looked like the finish last year but wow he flew home.
Nice win. He likes Santa Anita

  • Mary Z. · He has performed well at Santa Anita, cocoa. About Comma To The Top possibly needing a short break, I don't mean a long layoff, but he hasn't had any real length of time off since last June. I mentioned at another thread how Comma To The Top only finished 3/4 L. back after setting the blistering fractions. I'm glad that Sahara Sky got to the wire before the fast closing Capital Account. · 1386 days ago
  • cocoa2 · He's at his best now. I really don't think he is G2 caliber but that he hung on so tenaciously... if they do rest him, I hope he goes off on a win. Confidence booster. · 1386 days ago
