Its good that Vinery and Steve Asmussen sent him back to the U.S. he could have fallen apart if they kept him there.

  • ILuvTurfRacing · @driveon, I think you're right about that if both of them actually run in the G1 Golden Shaheen? The problem is, Black Caviar and Sepoy have gone out of their way to avoid racing each other in Australia, and I don't really understand why they have since they're the arguably the 2 best sprinters anywhere in the world right now. It's about a 99.9% certainty since he's owned by Sheikh Mohammed that Sepoy will be in Dubai, and it looks as if they're targeting the G1 Golden Shaheen with him. But if Black Caviar does indeed make the trek from Australia to Dubai in March? It won't surprise me at all if they avoid a showdown with Sepoy on a synthetic surface and go after the Al Quoz Sprint at 5f on turf. Since the Al Quoz Sprint has now been upgraded from G2 to G1 status. TJMO. · 479 days ago ·

Will a win in the G1 Hong Kong Sprint on Sunday, give him any chance at the Eclipse Award for male sprinter of the year? He's won 5 stakes races and hit the board in 8/9 so far.

  • atamulonis · If he wins, then I would say that it gives him a shot. Amazombie, who will likely be named Champion Male Sprinter, has two G1 wins, one G2 win, wins in 2 minor stakes races (MSR), two 3rd's in G1 races, one 3rd in a G3 race, and a 2nd in a MSR. If Regally Ready were to win the Hong Kong Sprint, that would give him two G1 wins, two G3 wins, one G2 win, a MSR win, and a 3rd in a MSR. At that point, it would really just be a matter of which races voters believed carried more weight: The Ancient Title and the BC Sprint or the Nearctic and the Hong Kong. · 531 days ago ·

Oh, what might have been. Today at Laurel Park, amidst a sea of slop, the right horse won, but it was in the wrong race. • arazi · szulcc - I agree. Where's the fun in winning a $75k race in the slop? After winning all these races, don't they sort of "owe it" to the horse to see what he can do? He's run like champion - he deserves the shot. · 568 days ago ·
