  • kay.robinett · I am sure that this decision was made with lots of input from her vets. She is an insanely valuable mare, and from what I remember, Jackson's dream was to use her as a broodie. · 62 days ago ·

Samantha Nicole, a full sister to the 2009 Horse of the Year, Rachel Alexandra, finished second in her career debut today at Fair Grounds. Running for the familiar connections of Stonestreet Stables and trainer Steve Asmussen, the bay filly broke poorly under rider, Rosie Napravnik, and tracked the ...Read More
As a continuation to the earlier Fager/Secreteriat post. Before i make my staement, let me preface it that i never rooted or considered eitther one a favorite. Both of them were incredible and at their best could be in the conversation as to the top of the Fillies and Mares ladder in the past 20 years. My parameters are quality and Speed, winning is irrelevant unless you bet her(made no money) or owned her to collect the purses. That being said, between Rachel and Zennyatta. At their best, even up to 1 1/8th.I believe Rachel would beat her 7 out of 10 times.I could care less who was in the race. If the race were a head to head match race.Z might be able to win 1 out of 10

If you are looking to read a blog about a current event in thoroughbred horse racing, I’m sorry, but this entry is sure to disappoint. Today, I’ve decided to write about something completely different. If you’ve ever wondered how Zipse at the Track came to be, or maybe how a blog that you actually l...Read More

  • LAZMANNICK · Brian, many people can write about Horse Racing and many have been to some of the sport’s biggest races and seen many of the top horses, etc., but in my mind the one thing that has always separated you from the rest is that you are a genuinely nice person. I love the way you talk about your family and your friends as family and friends should really be the most important things in our lives. You always manage to put a positive spin on the subjects that you write about and from what I can see, if you don’t have anything nice to say, you don’t say it. You’ve more than earned my respect. · 81 days ago ·

Horse Racing Simulation created a dream matchup race of Zenyatta vs. nine other all-time greats: Cigar, Affirmed, Citation, Seabiscuit, Ruffian, Barbaro and others. Read More

  • Sullivan · 9f at Pimlico. Ruffian and Affirmed weren't burn outs, and that's why I didn't say they were. Affirmed was game, but only when he looked the other horse in the eye. You could rally right past him like Alydar did in the Champagne I believe if you were going fast enough. The idea Ruffian could hold off Citation seems to be a little nutsy, I think sixth to two TC winners, two BCC winners and a damn good handicap male isn't that bad · 82 days ago ·

  • AnneShaw · After the interview with her owners and connections following the BC I was completely turned off. Tiger was on lead. Ria didn't have to take such a close path. Just like in basketball, she drew a foul if indeed there was one. I can't wish her well except for good health which I hope they all are. · 83 days ago ·
  • tmallios1 · Anne you will not have to worry about her. These Eric Guilliot wannabees just talked all through the winter to get print. I thought they were doing it to put her in the limelight and increase her value. I think they were trying to sell a piece or all of her. When nobody bit, they withdrew their plans to face the boys and are now pointing to the filly Stake. You are correct, they did not take the high road after the race. But as Bill Parcells always says. You are who you are. · 83 days ago ·
Has anyone heard anything about her 2013 filly? A name, maybe? I just want to make sure she's OK, I haven't been able to find anything about her. :(

  • EP Taylor · All reports I have read online said she was doing fantastic, considering every thing she has been through. No news on the baby. · 93 days ago ·
  • goblin · ruffianzenyatta, I feel sure there will be an announcement on the Stonestreet site if/when the filly is named. Maybe they'll have a naming contest as they did with the Curlin colt--I still prefer to call him Taco though. As you probably know, the filly was turned over to a nurse mare, a Quarter Horse named Miss Beautiful Ojos, or just Ojos for short. I'm guessing we won't hear much until the filly is ready to be turned out as a yearling with the others of her crop on the farm. If you haven't seen a picture of the foal or nurse mare, I found one at Paulick Report. http://www.paulickreport.com/news/ray-s-paddock/nurse-mares-four-legged-mary-poppins-to-the-rescue/ · 93 days ago ·

  • tmallios1 · H.C. is a Very good Colt, full of promise and potential. Let us not forget that there are others out there with as much promise and potential.Tap it Rich , Noble Moon , Almost Famous and Havana to name a few. I personally have my rooting favorites from the horses mentioned above. They are Famous and Noble Moon. Staying up north though. As much as i am not sure how Havana will run in the Jeuvenile,i was hoping he'd sit back and point for the Remsen.I think at least up to 1 1/8th of a mile,he or Noble Moon would be the dangers due to their early pace. Doubt they would have a sprinter in the race to nag them along the way. · 182 days ago ·
