Any news on her colt? Such as name or when they are announcing it?
From 1987 to 2011, the average winning Kentucky Derby Beyer was 109. Until 2009, it was really a given that the winner had to get into that range. No more. Once is an aberration. Four times is a pattern. Mine That Bird got a 105 when he won in 2009 by 6 3/4 lengths. Which means the rest of them ran ...Read More

With over sixty-five hundred entries submitted for their “Name Rachel’s Foal” contest, it’s no wonder that Stonestreet Farm is taking their time in announcing a winner. I would also add Curlin, Lawyer Ron, (consecutive years) Victory Gallop, Tank's Prospect, Davona Dale, Bold 'n Determined, and Festin as other memorable Festival winners. According to her Facebook page, she is confirmed in foal to Bernardini
As compelling, or not, you found her seasonal debut, I believe the more interesting thing is all the talk surrounding where her connections chose to make her first start of the year.Read More

Rachel Alexandra, shot out of the gate as fast as Ruffian and proved herself one of the best at 1 1/8 mile. Considering she won from the outside #12 in the Preakness which had never been done before having to exert a great amount of energy I feel she would have gotten the 1 1/4 mile. Her 4yo season is a toss as Calvin killed her at Saratoga the scrungy little.....
With Kentucky Derby fever in full flight, fans are clamoring for Union Rags – Hansen II. I’m all for that; a real honest to goodness rivalry through the Triple Crown would be great for our sport, but a couple of performances this past week have me very excited for the potential of another match-up. ...Read More

  • xmango93x · As for the name of the colt, I'm spreading "Caprido" everywhere I can. Think it fits in with the feel of the horses the Mosses have named in honor of Sting and/or The Police, and it was part of one of the rejected names for the album Zenyatta was named after. Giacomo, Tiago, Zenyatta, Caprido... I think it fits =) (And if they don't use it, I will someday haha) · 72 days ago ·

She barely makes the Top 100 of all time. Pushing and shoving her up to #22 on this list doesn't mean she's actually #22. Can you even imagine her racing against the horses ranked below her? How would she fare against Sunday Silence, War Admiral, Riva Ridge, Ack Ack, Cougar II, Tom Fool, Assault, Princess Rooney, Personal Ensign, Arts and Letters, Alydar, Native Diver, Foolish Pleasure, etc? If she were in that race, she would be dead last.
  • cocoa2 · Depends on if she was having a good day or a bad day. I agree that 22nd is too high, but the rankings are rather messed up. · 81 days ago ·
