  • tmallios · mschneider i just went back to read the barbs. I truly do appreciate your concern.Again i apologize for the misinterpetation. Don;t want to ruin a good line of Communication(LOL).But it seems unless i missed more, the only one to take a shot was Victorio. The effect on me from that is like a fly landing on an elephants butt. Never felt it. Again thanks . Back to PM,for all the people that love him. Isure hope that come sometime this year ,you throw it in my face and sai i told you so. Just remember,if i see he is the best in that race and i feel he presents value. I will more than likely be happier than most if he wins. · 7 days ago ·

Acording to DFR, Palace will be running in the Westchester next ? jlp

  • goblin · The Westchester is his prep for the Met Mile, according to the Dogwood Stable site; but if he does not run well in the Westchester, then they will abandon the Met Mile idea and point to the Brooklyn Handicap. (If this has already been posted somewhere, please excuse my tardy info. My computer crashed at ~10:30 A.M. and has only been functioning again for an hour or so.) http://dogwoodstable.com/stable-news.shtml · 7 days ago ·
  • Exterminator · I'd really love it if he went for the handicap triple. · 7 days ago ·
I'm a fan of Palace malice, but he ran in 148.4, not 147.4. I was kinda surprised he got a 114 for that time.
Anyone know what's next ? jlp
  • tmallios · More than likely The Alysheba on Oaks Day or The Pimlico Special. After that the Met if he comes out OK. Then he gets his 8 week freshening into the Whitney. · 11 days ago ·

  • Sullivan · With the recent stud deal you may not be far off, though it ought to be noted that Lukas did bypass the New Orleans Handicap to have him somewhat fresh for the Oaklawn Handicap. I would expect for them to go to the Alysheba after, then Stephen Foster, Whitney, Woodward, JCGC and end in the BCC, assuming he is sound. · 16 days ago ·
  • tmallios1 · Sometimes i am puzzled by the fans. They love it when their favorites Globe Trot and fly or van all over the country to race every race. Although the doses and medication are strictly legal, and absolutely necessary. Every time a horse ships from one local to another. They are sedated so that they do not injure themselves by overreacting to a situation. Not an expert in the medicine field, but logic tells me the more and more they get sedated,it can't be all that good. · 16 days ago ·

  • gatetowire · Honestly, I thinkuntapable is as good as it gets for the Oaks OR the Derby. Hopefully her connections decide on the Oaks, as that may prove a more practical choice in the long run. I was not impressed with Constitution, or Vicar's In Trouble. IMO, both will be In Trouble come Derby day · 17 days ago ·

  • ekindy · Don't get me wrong, Dressage, I'm happy to see him find his way to the winner's circle. But things like bad starts and bad conditions are things great horses have to learn to overcome to to become champions. And he showed yesterday he's finally getting there. His start even yesterday was less than stellar, but to his credit he overcame it. It'll be tougher to overcome those obstacles in G1 company though, but the nice thing about putting him in G2 company (and actually tmallios has a point, this group probably doesn't deserve to even be called that) is that he is learning to expect of himself that he needs to cross the wire first. · 18 days ago ·

question for those out there regarding weights.....3 year olds (immature compared to older horses) ran with 122 weights assigned...yet a handicap gives the top horse 121 lbs? I know weights don't make or break a race but i'm getting a bitter taste in my mouth considering older horses are more mature, faster, higher class etc. So why was the highweight in the handicap only 121 lbs? i only make my point because of the comparisons of time beween PM and the LA Derby winner Vicar.....
Very good race , I think he looks better than last year. Bigger and stronger than he was. jlp

  • RichChatter · I feel it was almost an insult to Palace Malice that a horse that has won only twice and never anything higher than an AlowOC was favored over him. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of Normandy Invasion, but come on. I was so happy for PM today, making his papa proud. Bring on more big races! · 19 days ago ·
Yes!!!! That's my boy, so proud of him. He's gonna do big, big things this year.

  • tmallios1 · Buzz for a second forget the nonsense of being a fan and rooting for horses if you are a gambler. If not then that is no problem. We can all make boasts of who will win the race. The only constant before you bet, always search for value on your horse for that particular race. This horse is 5/2 on the ML i believe. Personally i hate betting horses that are higher in odds than their Morning Line. Especially the ones that i feel are the best in the race. Believe me,when that happens, all it means is that the right money is not on them.By that i mean connections or people that watch them in the mornings,or have a pulse on the situation. I am not talking about the everyday gambler. That being said,if i loved him as much as you do and thought he would go off at the odds of 7/2. Well Friday i would be at my bank making big withdrawels to put on his nose. You see ,when he meets the bears,he will go off at those odds. That is when his chances of winning will greatly decrease. But if you are comfortabl with it,and youget 7/2 in this Allowance field. Then act like Phil Helmuth and say>>> ALL IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! · 21 days ago ·
Dogwood Stable’s Palace Malice, hero of last spring’s Belmont Stakes as the final jewel of racing’s 2013 Triple Crown, has been assigned the top impost of 121 pounds for next Saturday’s 90th running of the Grade II New Orleans Handicap on Louisiana Derby Day at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.Read More

  • AmbitiousD · I apologize if I have not explained this clearly. Ratings in Hong Kong are not speed ratings for races like Beyers are here. Think of them more like rankings in the BCS system for college football. But in your specific example, a horse that races in graded stakes will be rated in the top tier of horses in HK, as its a prerequisite. The priority for filling stakes races is the rating system. So a G2 caliber horse would likely be rated in the 90-100 range, however if the field will be filled based on the ratings of the horses nominated. So if a specific horse carries a rating of 90, he will be entered into a graded stakes field only if it does not fill with horses that are rated higher than him. if the field is full with horses rated higher, then that horse can be an AE or opt to run in high class handicap to try and increase its individual rating. The HK system is specially designed so that "allowance" (aka ratings 0-80) cannot openly engage in competition against stakes level horses (typically ratings 80+). They have to increase their ratings through continually improving agains their own level of competition and "rising through the ranks" so to speak. · 23 days ago ·
  • ekindy · Just my opinion of course, but in this race I see the post positions and weather as having a far greater effect on the outcome than the weights assigned. The weights are just not high enough to have that serious of an effect on the placings, especially at 9 furlongs. I'm going with Golden Soul because I think PM will have a hard time overcoming his outside post and the slop. Bradester would not surprise me either, but I'm expecting the speed to break down some in the final furlong, especially if Smith fights to get PM out front and they battle early. Of course I'll wait to see how the track plays out, if it's good or better then I'll have to consider NI. · 21 days ago ·
