  • Peppermint Paddy · Is there word of Orfevre to ship to the UK? an AK v. Orfevre showdown would be like the Zenyatta Rachel race we never got! I think I'd rather see Orfevre come to the BC, so I can see in person, IMO, #1 active horse. · 55 days ago ·

  • shadowno · IHB hit the Game on Dude issue spot on. He is getting a bit long in the tooth and more to the point is a gelding so winning the Whitney or any other eastern race is of little long term signiigance. Much wiser to run a Big Cap, Californian, HGC, Pacific Classic campaign leading into the BCC than amass frequent flyer miles. Add to the fact while obviously a top 10 handicap horse, he is not a "name" that will bring people out to any major track. It is a no-brainer to keep doing exactly what his connections have been doing. · 92 days ago ·

  • On The Gallop's · Shadowno- I guess you missed the part where I said 3-4 top races are in england and one in France. The Champions stakes is an Extremely important race and skipping the ARC for the Champions stakes is not a step down quality wise. · 81 days ago ·

I gotta say i love europeans and asian owners and trainers even the people from dubai there what makes horse racing what it is. Im sick of these american trainers and owners retireing there horses when there still running at peak level of there carear mares fillys or colts. A horse runs lights out as a 3 year old in america there automatically retired and sent to stud just to make money. Orfevre keep going buddy from your american friend

Orfevre will not be going to Dubai. He will start his year in the G2 Osaka Hai (3/31), then run in the G1 Takarazuka Kinen (6/23).

  • northport · Sunday Racing already has Gentildonna, who has proved to be better than Orfevre. I can understand having them spread out their best horses instead pinning them against each other in the Sheema Classic. Prize money in Japan is ridiculous as it is, I think they know how to run their business · 132 days ago ·

Gentildonna is a superbly talented three-year-old filly, and with the victory she became the first sophomore female ever to win the Cup, but the decision seem less than just. Simply stated, Orfevre deserved to win the race, just as Buena Vista did two years ago. Perhaps the four-year-old son of Stay...Read More

Sunday's Japan Cup seems to be his for the taking. But is it? He draws the widest stall--17. No horse has won from 17 in the Cup's 31-year history. In fact, no horse has finished in the top five from there. Solemia by contrast will break from stall 14, which sports the highest number of winners. However, it has been reported that Solemia did not travel well, looking listless and losing weight initially. Arguably the best horses in the field all drew to the outside of Solemia, with Japanese Filly Triple Crown winner Gentildonna breaking from 15, Tosen Jordan from 16 and Orfevre from 17. Others out to challenge the likely favorite include American St. Leger winner and third recently in the Melbourne Cup, Jakkalberry. Also pulling in from the Melbourne Cup, Mount Athos and Red Cadeaux who finished 5th and 8th respectfully. If you recall, Orfevre drew barrier 18 in the Arc, and lost by a neck to Solemia. Many felt Christophe Soumillon moved Orfevre to the front too soon in that race. For the Japan Cup, Orfevre's regular jockey Kenichi Ikezoe will be aboard. I believe Orfevre will win and break that 31-year superstition. He's just that good a horse.

  • mkstorm · This year's Japan Cup is shaping up as a great race with the first two Arc finshers and last year's TC winner versus this year's Filly TC winner. I'm not too concerned by Orfevre's outside post but more worried about whether he gets a clean trip in this large field. Betting wise, I'm going with "horse for the course" strategy and boxing Orfevre with other Japanese runners who've had success at Tokyo and will be throwing out the Euro horses. · 183 days ago ·

  • mkstorm · Still think Orfevre is the horse to beat in JC. Don't agree with the naysayers that this horse tired in the Arc. This horse has already proven that he can win at longer distances. I think his Arc loss was just a matter of the horse just letting up thinking the race was over. Can't really blame his French jockey who was urging him all the the way to the wire. Orfevre seems to be his own worst enemy. · 183 days ago ·

Orfevre should try Breeders Cup Classic... Horse seems to love 1 1/4 miles type races. Grandsire is Sunday Silence so conventional dirt should not be a factor!!!
