Older Comments about Mr. Commons...

Retired? 6 yrs old now.
By his works, Mr. C seems to have taken extremly well to Belmont. I think he'll do well in the Knickerbocker today, and keep Artie Schiller on hot streak...
On August 26, Mr. Commons breezed 4F in 49:73 (2/27, dirt training) at Saratoga.

"His last race was a good comeback race, probably better than his placing indicated," said Shirreffs. "I'm looking forward to running him. He needed a race—he had one work in a month (a four-furlong breeze July 17 at Belmont). We had a lot of bad weather and the timing was never right, but the nice thing is he came out of this race really well. He recovered quickly. The whole point of the allowance race was to get him ready for the Fourstardave. We knew he would need a prep race."
rest him!

  • plez2k10 · According to the DRF chart, the first five finishers (Seal Cove, Turallure, Hoofit, Paris Vegas, Mr. Commons) were seperated by less than two lengths. Vitoria Olimpica was leading in the stretch but they caught up to him before the wire... · 1370 days ago
  • Mary Z. · Yah, blankety finish, so I don't feel so bad about my selections, but seriously, Mr Commons acted like he didn't want to win, or like "Huh" what? Who are these guys rushing past. Course rated good. Does he need the familiar pool table? · 1370 days ago
I for one am tunned at why Sherriffs is running this horse in an allowance race at Saratoga on wednesday. If the rumors are true and he has a foot bruise, sit him out and wait til he gets as close to 100% as would make you happy and confidant to take on the big boys. This is a classy miler. He has not run in any other type of race, other than a graded mile in at least 2 years. he is to valuable a horse to look for a prep race.john you know the horse better than anyone. If you feel that he is ready to give you his best. Why not wait another 2 weeks and take on Wise Dan in the Fourstardave. If last years race is an indication along with other races this year, you will more than likely be facing Wise Dan and 3 or 4 other overmatched foes.In his last race,he did not embarass himself against W.D. on a foreign turf course to him.you lost by 3 lengths. The Fourstardave is a G1 with a purse of $500k,it is run under handicap conditions.you should be getting a very favorable weight allowance.please do not tell me that this is a prep for that race. that will mean that you will have to come back in 16 days to face, the best miler in the country and possibly the world.you have shown to be beyond an extremely capable trainer of getting a horse to run off of a layoff.plus if you run 2nd,you get a black type placing for a G1 race. So please Mr. Sherriffs, scrape these plans to run wednesday in an allowance race and do the right thing by trying to beat the champ.Unless of course health is a question mark.In that case,he should not be running at all.

  • tmallios1 · amino, i could not stop laughing at your post.first thank you.it added humor to an already great day.but your attempt to try and make me a simpleton by calling me Hubristic.i already told you.i am a simpleton.in yours and many an ass hole.que sera sera.what shocked me is that with the excessive spare time on your hands, you so accurately quote all of my past posts.even the ones that date back weeks.the shocking part is that you either forgot or succesfully neglected to not read my post to laz regarding mr. vics comments.being an idiot and an ass hole i am,his posts go over my headso i told laz a story that in high school i cheated on tests by keeping a roget thesaurus hidden.guess what ,i still have it.thank you for the intellectual description. by the way,to prevent you from missing any past post.i am in the process of going to print.immediately upon publication.i will give you a heads up.maybe since you are such a fan ,and follow me at every thread i open.i will even autograph it for you.again ,from the biggest hubristic ass hole to a loyal fan. · 1370 days ago

Mr. Commons, who was withheld from the G3 Poker Stakes due to a foot bruise, worked 4F in 49:55 (2/16) at Belmont Park.
Anyone know if this one's having issues? Shirreffs was looking forward to running this one in the Poker coming up this week, and he worked quite well (as usual) last week, but suddenly he isn't entered for the Poker. Any idea of injury, etc.?
On June 20, Mr. Commons breezed 5F in 1.00:50 (4/20) at Belmont Park.
Sad to see him scratched today... I hope they can find a spot for him to run soon, I am dying for him to finally get that win
On May 21, Mr. Commons worked 5F in 1.02:14 (18/23) at Belmont Park.
On March 12, Mr. Commons worked 4F in 48:20 (8/23) at BHP.
"Can he find room?" No, and he didn't run as well as I would have liked after he finally got out.
On January 12, Mr. Commons handily worked 4F in 48:40 (9/33) at BHP.
On January 5, Mr. Commons handily worked 3F in 35:20 (2/15) at BHP.
I know he hasn't been winning, but he is always right there at the finish...hope he can get to the winners circle again soon!
On September 23, Mr. Commons handily worked 5 furlongs in 1.00:40 (6/108) at Hollywood Park.
