That was really strange, he wouldn't go anywhere near the gate, didn't think they would ever get him in, then ran a graet race
  • CraigBradshaw · had beaucoup pre-gate issues, holds up the post time, but once out of the gate, takes over the race and wins. feisty horse. · 21 days ago ·

Grade 1 winner Morning Line returns off a layoff (first start since the Whitney (G1) last fall), under new trainer John Shirreffs in the Mervyn LeRoy Handicap (G2) at 8.5 furlongs this Saturday at Hollywood, versus reigning North American champion Acclamation.
After a brief scare Thursday, Acclamation, the champion older male of 2011, was declared fit and ready by trainer Don Warren and could run in the $150,000 Mervyn Leroy Handicap Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park.Read More
Really liked this horse's win in the Carter last year and his 3yo season before that, but it's like he dropped off the edge of the earth! The most recent piece of info I could find on him (from this or any other site) is that he is now in John Shirreff's barn, but that was over 4 months ago...News, anyone?

Mystery solved....bone chips in both knees. Surgery today to remove them. Not retiring, pointing towards a return to racing after his recovery.
Trying to make sense of Morning Line’s disappointing last-place finish in Saturday’s Whitney, a glum Nick Zito said the 4-year-old Tiznow colt will undergo some testing and then would probably be sent to owner Will Farish’s Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky for further evaluation.   “Obviously, he’s ...Read More

Grade 1 Carter winner Morning Line, last in the Grade 1 Whitney on August 6, departed Saratoga Race Course Wednesday afternoon bound for owner Will Farish’s Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky. “We took some X-rays of his knees and ankles, and nothing has changed there,” said Hall of Fame trainer Nick Zito....Read More
  • tiznow · a true mystery...obviously a game horse who has always had fight. For him to quit the last two races something must be amiss. Could have been short in the Salvator, but works after were solid. One of my favorite horses. Hope everything checks out good and he gets a clean bill of health. · 292 days ago ·

  • DeadHeat · Rail Trip has never struck me as a slow horse, especially when he ran 1.40 and change for 8.5f last out ;) Look for a horse you know has the tactical speed to rate but will be the closer to the pace, 5 or 6 from the front. Saratoga is deep and tiring, more than some other tracks in the US, so when a horse looks like it is running slow, it is probably running evenly, when it is running evenly it's probably running fast, and when your going fast your burning up the track. · 298 days ago ·
