What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Lava Man...

Just found out that Lava Man and my up and coming barrel prospect (now 2 years old), Stick Up AKA Zoom share a birthdate. Happy birthday to both!

  • ekindy · @Ruffianlover I think the differences are greatly exaggerated. Remember Princess took some time off after the Oaks as well. Princess ran exactly one more race for the year than Beholder, and ran exactly one more race than Beholder between the Oaks and the Distaff. Yes it's a difference but it's not so much of a difference that you take the award away from Beholder. And also remember Princess stayed home when other contenders (in fact ALL other Oaks runners if I am not mistaken) ran in March prep races. Are we going to discount her Oaks victory because of that? · 84 days ago ·

  • dani.pugh · Bernardini raced seven times. Blame ran 5 and was beaten badly in the Gold Cup. He beat some very very good horses, but he did it on a light schedule. Bernardini won the Withers, Preakness, Jim Dandy, Travers, and Gold Cup, and was second to a great horse in Invasor. His season was nothing short of dominating while Blame was not. · 98 days ago ·

  • LAZMANNICK · The Typecast Convenience race was a match race for purse money. The owners put up something like a 100K each and the track put up 50K so it counted as a race. Buckpasser ran in two non-betting races in his career, the Flamingo, and an allowance that was considered as an exhibition with no wagering. It counted in his 31 race record. He finished second in that allowance after winning his previous start. If that race wouldn’t have counted then he would have been credited with 16 wins in a row, instead of 15. When Exterminator ran at Hawthorne, it was against the clock and not just a canter so his fans could see him. He was trying to break the track record which he didn’t. The DRF posted his PP and there was an official race chart. He ran because Chicago racing was suffering and he was considered a draw that might help revive the sport. 25,000 people showed up. · 261 days ago ·

Snow Chief was a Classic winner and an American champion. The California bred, near black colt was a consistent and dominant star in 1985 through 1987. He was the all-time leading California bred earner until surpassed by Best Pal, and still is fourth only behind Tiznow, Best Pal and Lava Man...Read More

  • travel_vic · the loigic is that you continually RAID parimutuel pools when there are discrepancies......I have gone through entire cards at Oaklawn and did not miss a payout..Some were little more than a push, but it was EVERY race...After 14 in a row, I knew I found the wagering mecca for that type of wager. · 268 days ago ·

  • travel_vic · that of course was 14 WAGERS in a row, not 14 races in a row...Many with more than 3 FTS or contests were the distirbution of wagering is too even do not qualify as wagering opportunities. · 268 days ago ·
