ILuvTurfRacing · John Gosden could really come loaded for bear for this year's BC F&M Turf is he so chooses? He's got his star older filly, Izzi Top, who until the G1 Nassau Stakes hadn't been beaten in 4 straight stakes races that has the automatic "win and your in" slot for her win in the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland, and now he's got arguably one of the best 3yr.old fillies in Europe in The Fugue with an automatic "win and your in" slot for her victory in the G1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. Those 2 could make for quite a formidable F&M Turf pair for John Gosden should he choose to bring both stateside to Santa Anita in November, IMO. · 290 days ago ·

Izzi Top

Racing at Goodwood continues tomorrow with an exciting field meeting in the G1 Nassau Stakes. Izzi Top looks to continue her win streak to five straight. It won't be a stroll, however, for this mare who has yet to finish out of the money (ok- 1 dq from 1st). Andrew Lloyd-Webber's The Fugue looks to improve here. Was wheels back rather quickly from her 4th place in the Irish Oaks--though she had a host of traffic problems there. Nahrain is still looking for her 2011 form. I'll have my eye on Clinical who I believe poses the biggest threat to Izzi. Clinical had a horrible trip last out, and I believe will redeem herself tomorrow.

ILuvTurfRacing · I absolutely love this filly. Really respect how she's stepped up her game as she's gone up each race in grade, and as the level of competition has gotten tougher. Going back to October, 2011, Izzi Top has now reeled off consecutive wins in the G3 Prix De Flore at Saint-Cloud, G3 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket, G2 Middleton Stakes at York, and G1 Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland. Her win on Sunday in the Pretty Polly gives Izzi Top the first "win and your in" slot for this year's BC F&M Turf. John Gosden's always been a big supporter of the Breeders Cup. So I'd say it's very likely we'll get to see Izzi Top at Santa Anita come November. Barring anything going wrong with her between now and then? · 324 days ago ·

Doesn't get much more progressive than this filly has been. Last season, Izzi Top won the listed Fillies' Trial Stakes at Newbury and followed it up with a very creditable 3rd place finish behind Dancing Rain and Wonder of Wonders at Epsom in the G1 Investec Oaks. After the Oaks, she ended finished her 2011 season in France with a win in the G3 Prix De Flore at Saint-Cloud back in October, and she hasn't been defeated since. Izzi Top has gone right up the ladder this season. Winning the G3 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket, the G2 Middleton Stakes at York, and today she wins the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh in Ireland and scores the first G1 win of her career. But the way Izzi Top's been running lately, I doubt it will be her last G1 win. Well done to team Gosden and Buick.
