  • manuelsch97 · We do not have triple crown winners any more, because of the problem Matt tries to solve here, what is more eye catching? the winner of the Derby, the preakness and the BC classic, or the winner of the belmont, the JC gold cup and the brooklyn hdcp? people try to breed the fast miler that can go 10 fourlongs, than the big strong horse that can go the big distances, the middle distances sell more than the so called "dead distances", this problem does not appear in south america, or england, because the important races are run in 2400 meters just like the belmont, so a horse that runs a mile or 10 fourlongs has no chance of being the top horse inthe country. To fix this problem here, we need some big farms to stop focusing on the big money for lets say 4 to 5 years, and start breeding stamina horses with stalliond from england or maybe argentina, to mix the offspring with milers from here and eventually in 4 to 5 crops, we'll have a horse that can run 9 fourlongs and 13 as well, its not an exact science, because if it would be everybody would be breeding triple crown winners every year, but its not a secret that year in and year out, the long distance races are won by second tear horses, not the top ones because they are not build for those races. · 82 days ago ·

  • icyhotboo · Since 1979, 20 horses have won two jewels of the Triple Crown, out of 34 runnings, for a 59% near miss. In other words almost 60% of the TC's since 1979 were near misses. It would seem bad luck is the culprit, not the horses. The figures show the ability is there just not the luck needed to go with it. Think about how many of those near misses in reality should have been hits. Out of those 20 misses there were more horses with a better chance than not. I'm not going to list each horse and give a reason. Have some fun and form your own opinion. · 82 days ago ·

  • dani.pugh · Bernardini raced seven times. Blame ran 5 and was beaten badly in the Gold Cup. He beat some very very good horses, but he did it on a light schedule. Bernardini won the Withers, Preakness, Jim Dandy, Travers, and Gold Cup, and was second to a great horse in Invasor. His season was nothing short of dominating while Blame was not. · 98 days ago ·

  • LAZMANNICK · Good for Lure, one of America's premier grass horses and always one of my favorites. He was probably best at a mile (two BC Mile Turf wins in 1.32 4/5 and 1.33 2/5) and was listed at #85 in the Bloodhorse Top 100. Housebuster was a top sprinter and after finishing third in his maiden race, reeled off 8 straight wins before finishing second by a neck as a three year-old in the Met Mile to HOY Criminal Type, while still managing to finish 1-1/2 lengths in front of Easy Goer. His biggest disappointment was running in the ’91 BC Sprint and finishing 9th at 2/5. However he was interfered with in that race (his last) and came back lame. Congrats also to Calvin and of course the great Invasor. · 358 days ago ·

  • northport · He covered 9 mares in 2012, Shadwell offers complimentary breedings for one of their stallions, I wouldn't doubt if that is Invasor's fate, he wasn't ever supported very well and in turn has been a pretty poor stallion · 436 days ago ·

One of my Fav horse of all time
Invasor, was an outstanding race horse. His record speaks for itself. eleven wins, from Feb 05 to March 07, and he defeats one of the all time greats, Bernardini, in the Breeders cup,11/06. Nuff said.

  • LAZMANNICK · Sorry John. With a whopping 8 lifetime starts and only 10 months on the track Bernardini never got a chance to be an all-time great. Invasor was headed in the right direction though even though he only got 12 lifetime starts. At least he raced during three seasons. · 604 days ago ·
